Lost in Florida
Well, I wasn’t exactly lost, but I really couldn’t tell you specifically where I was except to say it was a ‘right time, right place’ sort of scenario.
I drove my Jeep Wrangler to Tampa from Chicago in February of 2013 and the day after I got there it started to rain. By rain, I mean thunderstorm. Every day all day with lightning and thunder. I was determined to not have rain the entire trip, so I left Tampa and kept driving toward Miami–isn’t it ALWAYS sunny in Miami? No. It isn’t. That question is now indubitably answered for me.
I believe this might have been along ‘Alligator Alley’ at sunset…one evening when I just lucked out and saw some beautiful color and happened to be driving near a body of water with a dock. Of course, color and sunshine starved, I had to pull over and shoot some pictures! (This is not an unusual activity for me, by the way.) Fortunately I didn’t get eaten by the purported alligators. The result is as you see above, so maybe that 10 days in the rain was actually worth it to get these 15 minutes of sunlight over this water and dock.
